Its official Nick Xenophon is leaving the Senate. After such a long time in the role and holding such an important part in the parliament, what would make him step down?
When asked, former adf officer Bernard Gaynor said that Nick Xenophon is leaving to save embarrassment from the high court.
The citizenship scandal still seems to be having an affect on even the most solid and popular political figures.
Nick has been a senator since 2007 and has been a very powerful independent. We have seen the rise and fall of Tony Windsor and other independents but as most people thought Nick would be around for a long time yet.
What ever happened, we wish him all the best and as we sit back and watch the citizenship debarkle, take down more and more people, maybe the libertarians will get their way. The disbanding of parliament. The right to be ungoverned 🍾🔪 which would in all reality, last a week before they beg for leadership again.
Be blessed Michael McDowell
It’s 3.30 pm and the kids are happy playing and eating their afternoon tea, while I sit down with my cup of tea to write this blog. As I was thinking about what to write today’s blog on…I walked past the laundry room and saw the washing needed to be switched into the dryer, realised that there was already clean washing in the dryer, I looked at my pile of clean laundry getting bigger and bigger as my eldest son helped to switch the washing over! I can’t even imagine what it is like washing for 19 kids like The Duggars! GAH! Help me Lord…how do I deal with little ones, homeschooling, house work, attending to my husbands needs, being a friend, blog, vlog, and somehow get time with God???
I am reminded gently by the Lord my saviour, who has placed me right here, right now in this so called “crazy” life. That it is not so crazy! After all He has me where He wants me to be. He is in control, not me! This is not crazy, it is a season. We as Mum’s live this life, because we have been called to.
So wherever you are, how ever you are feeling about “crazy” just remember that it is a season. You are doing well, so well!!!
Here is a verse I found when thinking about this…
Psalm 1:3 He shall be like a tree
Planted by the rivers of water,
That brings forth its fruit in its season,
Whose leaf also shall not wither;
And whatever he does shall prosper.
You are doing an amazing job, as Dory says, just keep swimming!
~Bless you, Niki
One of our favorite things to do when its State Of Origin, or the NRL Grand Final is to turn down all our offers from fast food places, yes they now txt special footy offers, and cook pies, chips and gravy. On origin nights we also have Nikis amazing self saucing pudding.
I hope that memories shared while eating yummy food and watching big men belt each other on tv will serve our kids well when there older.
Blessings Michael McDowell
I have bond cleaned hundreds of houses now in my cleaning career, it has not always been that flash, I have made some big mistakes. One common question I get asked is how to clean a wall.
The answer can be very simple but also complex, A wall is a wall, a few common materials used are, Fibro, Gyprock, just to name a couple, the next thing for consideration is, what kind of paint is used? Lead? Oil? Water? the list goes on, the common silly paint used for rentals is cheap matt paint the seems to grab stains and scuff marks like its starving for it.
My brother asked me how to sugar soap a wall so here goes Matthew.
Step 1. Splash some blue sugar soap into a bucket and fill it with water.
Step 2. Use a good quality cloth, no chux as it to rough,
Step 3. Check to see if there are any scuff marks, or marks that sugar soap will not get out, test a bit to see. If the scuff mark is still there, then use GUMPTION first, lightly scrub the spot with your finger covered in a cloth, focus only on the scuff mark. It is guaranteed to come off, but if its paint missing and chipped which even the best bond cleaners can get confused with it will take more off.
Step 4. Wash the wall again with QUALITY cloths, you need microfiber or you will see the difference. start from the top of the wall where the ceiling meets the wall and go across side ways, don’t leave it to wet but still wet. It will take about 10 minutes or more to dry, if you have done it well then it will look like you have just painted the wall.
Step 5. Take a break!! washing walls is high energy and you will feel it unless you take regular breaks and have water.
The main thing to remember is, Wet Quality Cloths, DO NOT USE DRY CHEAP CLOTHS, or you will take paint off. Do not push to hard on the scuff mark just enough to see it removed. Remember also that the easiest thing is to call My Green Cleaner and relax.
P.S Sugar Soap is not edible!!
Fast forward a few months and here we are, greek yogurt fruit, and for mummy McDowell crackers with tomatoes and cheese. Just like our budget we are cutting alot out and working hard to achieve success.
This handsome young man, has a whole life ahead of him, a grand journey that is their’s for the taking, he lives in a society that is socially trying to set a new bar, the well meaning, but misguided push to legalise same sex marriage, is one war that is taking casualties on both sides. Another war that will rage after the SSM debate’, is assisted death. But thrown in the midst of this search for meaning for this young generation is one the most important social and medical crisis of our time.
Never before in history has Australians eaten so much sugar, My wife and I tried to cut out all sugar from our diet, but what we found that about 95 percent of all foods including canned tomatoes had added sugar in them. according to Eating Disorders Australia, 63.4 percent of all Australians are overweight or obese. Obesity has soared 80 percent in 33 years. The worst of this is that 25 percent of all children in this lucky country are overweight. If these stats are not alarming you, in 2008, 2 years ago obesity cost the tax payer 48 billion dollars.
We have 4 young children and to be honest the future is looking a bit dark and large. What is needed? the current government is considering a soft drink tax, similar to the smoking tax. 20 percent on top of all soft drinks, to me the words, “soft revolution” come to mind. Raise the price of a can of coke, the only thing this will do is impoverish more people. Growing up in a beach town in central Queensland we would go to the shops in the morning to get some bread, alot of boys would meet up. some of them would be getting bread but there were a few boys who would get cigarettes and coke for there mums. Fast forward to 2017 and I can Guarantee this is still the case, some people look at soft drink in such high regard that its there life source. Raising taxes on a can or bottle will only take more money from the people who we are trying to save. One of the worst thing that is happening to this country is the cost of living. Bought on by well meaning but misguided global warmest that have single handedly driven up the cost of living, far beyond affordability.
To me this is just another knee jerk reaction to a serious crisis. I wish I had the answers but I really don’t. If I were the law setter I would reduce the level of sugar in things. Ween this generation off this amazingly tasty thing called sugar, cut the sugar in cans of fruit and tomato’s, plant community gardens everywhere possible, free fresh food for everyone is my answer, you want sugar? have a water melon, Apple, banana, eat of the fruit my generation.
One of the most common things I hear from people that are over 40, is that time went to fast. Where I sit at the moment I have a marriage, 4 young kids, a business that I am building, this blog which I am building and a strong spiritual walk to devote my time to. I guess you could say that I am in the thick of it, the busy point of life. All of the above are all important time consuming things.
Proverbs 16:9 says, The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps. I think one of the hardest discerning moments in life is, what do we prioritise and what do we let go?
I am a visionary, I have a new idea for Breakfast then dinner. My sweet wife listens as best she can while having 4 children hanging off her. It has only recently hit me that life is going faster by the year. We now go to church most Sundays, and hear great words from Pastor Jake from Life Builders church. It strikes us how fast Sundays come around.
One of our greatest things we did a few years back was to free ourselves from Facebook, I know it does connect families that usually wouldn’t see them and is a great place that people really like, but for Niki and I it was a place of never ending social suck. We started a Facebook group that grew to a few thousand and we spent most nights blocking and deleted posts. Around the same time we unplugged from the world, we also gave up TV. At first we were wondering how could we survive without it all. It took about the time frame of about 10 minutes to feel free. We looked at each other and smiled and literally welcome each other back into our worlds. Freedom!
God has lead us both to start an online journey, my talented wife puts together amazing vlogs that marvel the great Steven Spielberg and faithfully posts, even though we are so busy at the moment. I feel God is leading me to do this blog page to go alongside of the online journey of vlogging.
Time is for us going like sand in a siv, but I hope that the quality of our time is there. When we are old and healthy and hopefully wealthy, we will look back on life and know that we have given everything all the life we have.
I hope that as in Matthew where the holy scripture says, But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. that you will give life everything you have. Because as my business slogan says. One Life, One Earth, Live it clean.
God Bless and you i hope that you follow us on this journey and keep reading, as some really exciting guest bloggers are about to write for us.
This morning when I woke up I went straight into my quiet morning time “alone”. I say alone very rarely…and I wasn’t alone. Mr almost 3 yr old followed me and my quiet time didn’t last very long, alone. But I still enjoyed it 🙂
I was reminded this morning of Philippians 2. As it states we are to be imitating Christ humility. Wow. How hard can this be? I think it can be really hard at times, and OK at other times.
This is what stood out to me…1-5 Therefore if you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any common sharing in the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, than make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in the spirit and of one mind. Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of others. In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus.
I pray that his passage will encourage you on your walk with Christ. I challenge my self today to really take note of others needs and interests and seek God to help me. So today I am going to put in to practice more than before to be imitating Christ humility.
Hope you have a great day and weekend! Be blessed, Niki
