12 Months ago we launched mcdowellblessings.com with the vision of posting daily and building the profile of mcdowellblessings.com, this last 12 months has seen a post here or there and a few photo’s of the creator Gods hand print. Whats next for McDowell blessings? as our renewal for the website came up.
While the YouTube channel has progressed really well this year, due to Niki’s hard work and dedication, this blog site has dwindled and has fallen into the darkness of the world wide web, and is starting to resemble the workings of the middle ages, something that has happened but really has no reverence in today’s culture.
There is hope though my faithful followers, this year I Michael McDowell father and leader of my family will be posting over 300 blog posts and ramping up this site to be a great light and informative read. One that stands out from the crowd, I will be campaigning, marketing and pushing for this to be our stay at home business and ministry.
I will be interviewing politicians, leaders, church pastors, atheists, big family’s, small family’s, interesting people and will be posting on you tube with my amazing wife about our lives as leaders and nurturer’s of this big loud happy and sometimes challenging family.
What can you do as readers? support, refer, comment and enjoy.
P.s keep tuned for McDowell Blessings podcast, coming soon
With all love and blessings. Michael McDowell
Its been a very busy few weeks in the McDowell household. Parties, celebrations, last-minute work trips to Melbourne, 5 year old’s birthday party and a busy end to the year for the business.
Such crazy chaos, noise and busyness, head spinning, mind is racing thoughts the go a little like this, let’s go, come on, get the kids ready and bathed, toilet, stay happy or Ill make you. While washing Gracie’s hands today everything changed. Her little doll she calls her baby was sitting on the bathroom bench while I washed her hands. He little face turned left to see her baby’s head in a little bit of water, her heart races, blood pumps, emotions boil and all of a sudden, PUPPA babies wet!!!! this passion for a little baby doll rises up and all of a sudden everything fades away in my mind to be replaced with dread as I rescued this baby from the grips of danger and dried the poor things head. Gracie grabs the baby and hugs it as if it just went down the Nile river and clung to life in order to see its adoring mother again.
What happens to us as adults that once upon a time would have had the wildest and adventurous imaginations? dreams of saving the world from UFO’s or pretending we could fly so that our far away friends would be so much closer, or to drop everything to make sure baby does not get wet. One of the biggest drags in life is to work at a job where imagination is about 1 percent of the daily requirements. We honour the pilgrims of imagination, the leaders that didn’t let there daily lives get in the way of them changing the world. I think of Lucy Maud Montgomery the writer of the great series Ann Of Green Gables, of Laura Ingalls Wilder that put in writing her amazing life in the wild west of America, so many others that stand out as adults that have never given up their imaginations. Professionals such as Steve jobs, the subway brothers just to name a few.
Something to think about as the 24 hour time clock has suddenly hit 98 octane and is hurdling towards the end. Time is fleeting make it count, imagine, create, love and be passionate about life as in the bible it says, it’s here, its gone, the place remembers it no more. Make your mark on the next generation, love like Christ and change the world.
Please comment and Merry Christmas
It’s 3.30 pm and the kids are happy playing and eating their afternoon tea, while I sit down with my cup of tea to write this blog. As I was thinking about what to write today’s blog on…I walked past the laundry room and saw the washing needed to be switched into the dryer, realised that there was already clean washing in the dryer, I looked at my pile of clean laundry getting bigger and bigger as my eldest son helped to switch the washing over! I can’t even imagine what it is like washing for 19 kids like The Duggars! GAH! Help me Lord…how do I deal with little ones, homeschooling, house work, attending to my husbands needs, being a friend, blog, vlog, and somehow get time with God???
I am reminded gently by the Lord my saviour, who has placed me right here, right now in this so called “crazy” life. That it is not so crazy! After all He has me where He wants me to be. He is in control, not me! This is not crazy, it is a season. We as Mum’s live this life, because we have been called to.
So wherever you are, how ever you are feeling about “crazy” just remember that it is a season. You are doing well, so well!!!
Here is a verse I found when thinking about this…
Psalm 1:3 He shall be like a tree
Planted by the rivers of water,
That brings forth its fruit in its season,
Whose leaf also shall not wither;
And whatever he does shall prosper.
You are doing an amazing job, as Dory says, just keep swimming!
~Bless you, Niki
In our family we love dedicating our children to the Lord in front of our church and family. We have done so for all of our children, and it is kind of a big deal! 😁
When I was dedicated I wore a white dress, to this day I still have it and we put it on Gracie to wear for her dedication too, it was very special. For our boys, we bought an outfit that is white satin and they all wore that!
In Deuteronomy 6:4-7 NKJV it says this. Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one! You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength. And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up.
In 1 Samuel 1 we read about Hannah presenting her son Samuel to the Lord. In Luke 2:22 we read that Joseph and Mary bought Jesus to temple and presented him to the Lord in the same way that we do now days.
Reflecting on these scriptures we believe that we are to do this for our children. We love our kids so much and we want the very best for them. We will do this by teaching them God’s principles and showing them these in our own lives. We want to dedicate them to the Lord because they are His, just like we are His. Children are a blessing from the Lord.
P.S. If you want to watch the VLOG of us dedicating our newest member of the family, Malachi, then please head over to our VLOG Channel on YouTube. Click here.
It started in 2016, a fun loving homeschooling family put themselves out there for the world to see, often in the cleaning Business I Michael, would be asked do you I have kids? Yes I would reply, 3 kids under 6. After a few silent seconds after the brains commuted what I had just told them they would always say, boy you have your hands full I bet you cant wait until you send them to school. In reply I would take a breath and then calmly explain that we will have started homeschooling our kids and will continue until they graduate. The room would go from a casual chat to a cold, earth shattering, paradigm mind shifting world altering, response WHAT!? The questions would then come, the usual, how will they get socialised to I didn’t even know that was legal in this country and why don’t you like to current curriculum and school system.
Being a debater at heart, I could hit them with enough language and argument on the benefits of homeschooling that they would loose me a few minutes into my grand speech. So in putting it into believable terms, I would explain that I have no issues with schools and I have niece’s that go to school and my wife and I were schooled at the so called “normal school”. We believe in Maths and English and core subjects that will not only improve their knowledge and IQ but also build there spirits and social IQ by getting them to deal with a lot of ages. Being Christian as well, we can encourage them in the faith.
In conclusion this is why we VLOG to encourage people around the world that they’re worth it and that if they choose to homeschool their children then good on them. The ability it can give them to be great adults with all the opportunities that other children have without the restraints of a school system that can drum them into little employees, not free minded leaders that can change the world.
